Vision Mission
Organizations summarize their goals and
objectives in mission and vision statements. Both of these serve different
purposes for a company but are often confused with each other.
While a mission statement
describes what a company wants to do now, a vision statement outlines
what a company wants to be in the future.
A Mission Statement defines the company's business,
its objectives and its approach to reach those objectives. A Vision
Statement describes the desired future position of the company. Elements of Mission
and Vision Statements are often combined to provide a statement of the
company's purposes, goals and values.
A vision statement should say
something about us, our organization, our operating environment, our dream.
These statements are set in the
present tense, and they explain why you exist as a business, both to members of
the organization and to people outside it. Mission statements tend to be
short, clear and powerful. Vision statements also define your
organization's purpose, but they focus on its goals and aspirations.
